The John Singleton-directed film is the actor’s bid to become an action star and leave his identity as a young heartthrob behind. But if the reception Lautner got outside Grauman’s Chinese Theatre was any indication, it’ll be a while before he can entirely abandon his teen pinup reputation.
Hundreds of girls lined Hollywood Boulevard, chanting “Taylor!” repeatedly in unison as Lautner made his way down the street, stopping to greet fans for nearly 40 minutes. Though “Abduction” is Lautner’s first major role on the big screen, he came across as a veteran movie star, looking polished in a tailored suit and waving to those he didn’t have the time to meet.
It’s no coincidence that Lautner exudes the presence of a Tom Cruise or a Matt Damon, said Singleton: The director asked the actor to watch the films of such stars to prepare for “Abduction.”
“We studied Harrison Ford, Tom Cruise, Matt Damon — I mean, we even studied James Dean — because I wanted him to see people that were kind of in his position when they were young and how they evolved and changed as artists, just so he could get a sense of what his own path would be,” the filmmaker said.
George Clooney and former wrestler Stacy Keibler are now dating. The couple went public over the weekend at the Toronto Film Festival, where the actor’s “The Descendents” and “The Ides of March” were screened. Although they were not photographed together on the red carpet, the paparazzi did manage to snap a few shots of their hands kind of touching.
In a brand-new pic taken Saturday night, a dapper Clooney, 50, and a stunning Keibler, 31 (clad in a short black mini-dress and sexy heels) beam as they leave a high-profile bash.

American country pop singer-songwriter Taylor Swift leaves a restaurant after having lunch with a friend on Sunday in West Hollywood, California. The 21-year-old celeb recently stopped by Google’s Mountain View, for an impromptu Q&A session with YouTube and Google staffers.
Taylor’s visit was part of a program called YouTube Presents, which brings fans live performances and interviews with their favorite artists.
When asked how she chooses which covers she’ll perform at a concert, Taylor shared, “I go online and just kind of Google what people – what famous musicians are from a certain area, and I just pick my favorites.”
“I’ve loved so many different kinds of music, and I’ve never really been genre-specific as far as what I listen to. It’s just me and my instrument. It’s a spontaneous part of the show,” she added.
